Campolongo Maggiore

Luoghi da visitare (de)

Facebook

Campolongo owes its name (long fields) to the fact that for centuries it was considered a particularly fertile extent of land. Tito Livio relates that in 302 BC the Spartan king Cleonimo, in search of booty, sailed up the river Medoacus Minor (the Cornio) that linked the sea to the ancient Veneto village whose remains are buried in the Bojon area under a metre and a half of silt deposited over the centuries by the waters. His incursion was repulsed. Of that epoch only a few finds remain. The beautifully conserved countryside offers charming views, here and there pastoral ruins of thatched lodges or patriarchal farmsteads.
