Wie man zu Venedig kommt

BY PLANE FROM MARCO POLO AIRPORT

There are several possibilities to reach the historic city centre from the airport:

  • Car taxis: it takes 15 minutes to get to Piazzale Roma (radiotaxi Mestre tel.+39-041-936222). Once you reach Piazzale Roma you can easily start your tour of Venice on foot or by waterbus.
Private Water taxis: it is the fastest means to reach the historical centre - approximately 30 minutes - but also the most expensive.

  • Bus ATVO: a direct connection from the airport to Venezia (Piazzale Roma) that takes about 20 minutes; buses leave every half an hour. The buses leave outside the arrivals area on the right. The ATVO also offers a direct connection from Marco Polo Airport to Mestre Train Station. For information on bus timetables please call the following numbers 041-5415180/5205530 or check the ATVO website at the address www.atvo.it.

  • Bus ACTV: it is a public transport bus (Line 5) connecting the airport to Venezia (Piazzale Roma) and therefore makes several stops before reaching Piazzale Roma (it takes approximately half an hour). Public Bus Line 15 connects the airport to Mestre Train Station. For details on timetables you can check ACTV website www.actv.it

  • Public ACTV watertaxi service: it is a private watertaxi service which uses public transport's stops - therefore it offers less expensive prices than private taxis. It links the airport to some of the most important areas of Venice. The service includes the Alilaguna Red Line -between brackets are the approximate lenghts of time for each stop- which stops at Murano (30'), Lido (55'), Arsenale (1h.05'), S.Marco (1h.10') and the Zattere (1h.20') and the Alilaguna Blue Line which stops also at Fondamenta Nuove (30') and at S.Marco (58').
The Alilaguna connects the Airport to Venice Port as well. Both lines leave each hour.
For more detailed information on ticket prices and timetables please visit the Alilaguna website www.alilaguna.it.

BY CAR

It is easy to reach Venice by car with the following motorway and road connections: A4 from Trieste and from Turin, A27 from Belluno, A13 from Bologna, and the state roads SS.309 Romea from the Adriatic Coast, SS.14 from Trieste, SS.13 from Treviso, SS.11 from Padua.
Venice is always clearly sign posted.
Once you have arrived near the lagoon, get on to the Ponte della Libertà - a long straight line with two lanes linking Venice to the mainland -follow the signs for Venice and you will arrive at Piazzale Roma. Here you have to leave your car and start your adventure in Venice, on foot or by waterbus.
Three are the parking areas at Piazzle Roma: the Autorimessa Comunale, the Garage S.Marco and the small open air car park S.Andrea.
One alternative is the large car park on the Tronchetto island. From the Tronchetto Island you reach Venice by waterbus line 82 or with the new People Mover.
nother possibility is leaving your car in Mestre - parking it in the small car parks before you reach the Ponte della Libertà or in those opposite to the railway station of Mestre and reach Venice by bus (Line 2) or by train (ten minutes ride). Once you have parked your car and therefore solved one of the main ploblems arriving in Venice, your adventure can start: on foot or by waterbus.

BY TRAIN

The only railway station in Venice is Santa Lucia. It is connected to the rest of Italy with Eurostar, Intercity, Iterregional and local trains (train timetables can be found on the website of the State Railways at www.trenitalia.it). Luggage can be easily transported out of the station using the carts available and out through the appropriate exit ramp side. You can leave your luggage in the luggage left near platform 14), open daily from 06.00 to 24.00. You can, however, turn to the Cooperative Trasbagagli (tel. +39-041-5203070) for transport in the city, far more problematic.
